Island Hopping......

LOL, I wish I could say I meant "Island hopping" in the real sense, like off the coast of Italy, now that would be nice :)...... but instead, ive been searching blogs for beautiful and unusual Kitchen Islands ;) I have some friends that gave the ok to show pics of their creative islands and I was so impressed by such inspiring ideas, I just had to share!! Enjoy....

The first one above and below belongs to my friend Bekah, she is such a talented Decorator, and what a fabulous pink island she created!! It shows you that you dont need to buy what the stores have, if you cant find a great store island, make one out of a dresser, a table or anything you'd like! Great job Bekah
This Kitchen below and Island belongs to the fabulous Kelly over at Rose Vine Cottage, ....Kellys Kitchen is one of my all time favorites, she is so talented and so sweet too. You've got to click on the pics and make them bigger to see her gorgeous kitchen and explore it for every detail !

Her idea for an Island is so quaint and sooo cottagey! You are a "Decorating Genius" Kelly! Thanks for letting me share your beautiful Kitchen!

I love all her little touches!

This one below is simply Gorgeous! You can see more of it over at My Romantic Home, this belonged to someone she knew, But Cindy's blog is Stunning and beautifully done page after page! And her home that she features is chock full of her inspiring talents!....This Island is such a pretty color! Soft Blue ;)...Its neat how the butcher block is the top and a console acts as the Island! very cool!

More of this pretty kitchen!
This next one is so simple and Vintagey!! What a Gorgeous kitchen too! To see more of this one and the story of its origins go to Restyled Home and see her beautiful blog!
I love all the colors in this one, I grabbed the idea to add a towel bar to my own island from this picture below, last year I converted my childhood desk into a kitchen Island, I added a base to make it higher and casters so I could move it....then when I saw this, on went the towel bar ;)

and of course , lol, Islands can also function as other things in the kitchen , I love this idea below! great space saver!
and last but not least, lol, my kitchen Island, Ive taken pics of it before for my first post, but just turned it the other way in my kitchen for fun and a different look ;)
Hope you all have a nice Labor Day weekend! and thanks as always for being such good friends and leaving such nice comments too!!

~ Hugs ~ Cynthia

Hi Cyn,
Well you did an awesome job with your island hopping and I am so honored. Thank you I had so much fun on the tour and I love your friend Bekahs kitchen! I also have used a dresser in my kitchen for an island and it was almost the same color pink! Now it makes me want to put it back in there again! LOL. Oh and I can't forget to mention your sweet kitchen that I just adore! All of the kitchens were just beautiful.

I love your kitchen and I totally love your style. Great ideas for islands, I am moving into a smaller place soon and you have inspired me to make use of a piece I have now for an island in my new little kitchen.

Thanks,

Debbie Kay

Hi Cynthia,
I love love love islands, however my kitchen is just too narrow. I tried having one, I had one that was actually an old counter and it was awesome but it just ate up my kitchen so I sold it. And I adore Kelly's kitchen, it is so well done. I love your island too, the color is perfect.

Also, I wanted to thank you for your recent comments on my blog, coming from an interior designer, I was very flattered.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Thanks for showing my kitchen island...the photo of the blue kitchen with the black island! It is actually a proper island, built by my husband for out tenth anniversary. It is fashioned after the old candy counters of yesteryear, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! It may change colour someday, but it will always move house with me.

I also love the pink island, and the robin's egg blue one...so gorgeous!! Your blog is so lovely, too!!

Your island is amazing! I wish that I had room for one. I have a big farmer's table in my kitchen. It takes up all of the room. I love your ideas.

Love seeing so many things used as islands. All of them look great. I for one appreciate seeing these great ideas from creative people, and should I copy one of them, remember that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Love the new layout of your blog, so chocolatey. I LOVE the blue island (I'm a total blue girl) and that yellow kitchen... so happy. When we moved in I painted my kitchen 5 times and never could get the right yellow. My oak cabinets looked sooo orangey against the yellow, so I gave up and went with cranberry. Truth, be told, I just waiting for the day when I can redo my kitchen with white cabinets and sunny yellow walls and lots of blue and white just for fun :0)

Just stopped by to say hi, I've been checking to see if you had your Fall decor posted yet. I just saw a message you left me about my living rm, I had just changed it from the way you suggested, I like it that way but I get tired of it, I do always go back to that layout though(couch facing the window). Thanks for the suggestions.
