Television issues! lol......

This was my fireplace ( faux ) 2 years ago, fall decorated...I since have painted the living room Merlot, but I did like this set up ... But, getting the flat screen TV creates a little dilemma, I wanted it over the fireplace for viewing purposes , but then again, a TV is not that pretty, lol....so now that the design world has gotten with the times, Im keeping it over the fireplace, but i'll be ordering a cabinet for it or making one ;) ( Family room before was soft blue )
( family room after : Merlot )

I dont normally have the childs chair there, I did it just for today ;) Even though Im not a fan of "seeing" a TV, ( I prefer it behind closed doors ) its a lot easier for me and the kids to see it and here and also save space on the floor plan ;)

For now, it has to stay , but I want it hidden so ive chosen some options below....Im thinking of changing the wall color to a soft sage or a taupe beige ...but I do love deep colors for fall, so who knows ;)

These are some great plasma tv cabinets, im not sure yet, but I might get the second one, or make my own, , but Id then have to paint the fireplace to match, hmmmm, lol, sounds like fun ;) another project for fall ;)

I like the idea of hiding it. I like the second one as well.

I have a lot of friends with theirs over the fireplace. I have mine on the buffet.

Ah, TV issues. We can all probably relate to those. We have ours in an armour right now that we like but the TV is too small, I can barely see it from the sofa across the room, and would like to get a bigger flat screen, but where to put it is the big question. Yours looks great over the fireplace. Love the red on the walls.

Sue

I like the second cabinet, had no idea that you could get cabinets to hide away a flat screen tv, but why not..lol... I too love the deep colors for fall and winter. But whatever you decide I know it'll look gorgeous and I can't wait to see what you do next. Xoxo, Jannet

I always want to get the flat screen t.v. to put over my fireplace because all the furniture always has to face the tv,yuk, and I like to look at the fireplace, so this is a perfect solution! I like the second cabinet too. I also think its nice when they have the tv built into the wall with a pic that covers it, but thats better if it's a permanent fireplace.

Are you handy with Photoshop? You could combine the cabinets with the fireplace to get an idea of the end result. You could even change the fireplace color.

I'm not that handy, but I've seen similar things done.

Good Evening Cynthia, I am so behind on my visits...I am glad your back! You was missed! love the tv cabinet....I know what you mean about tv's! One of those cabinets would be great...I've even seen where you can have some kind of mirror hanging over the tv and when the tv is on you can see it throught the mirror..and Iv'e seen paintings that hang over the tv and roll up when you want to wathch tv...I could go for any of those ideas! Now I am going to catch up on all your latest post! Nancy

I know what you mean about the new tvs. I loved how you could just close up the armoire and the tv would disappear. My vote is for the second cabinet :0)

Hello Sweet Cynthia!

I love the new look to your room! The color is fab and the screen looks perfect above the fireplace!

Just today I was talking to my daughter about faux fireplaces and wanted one for the LR!!! So it was perfect timing I came by for a visit! In my last home we had 3 fireplaces, now I have only one....so I thought a faux one would be perfect! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Cynthia,
I am having a hard time adding you to my favs, I'm going to try again so naturally I have missed your last few posts. I really don't think your television looks that bad. Flat screens are certainly more attractive than those big honkers (we just got a flat screen and got rid of a big honker...LOL). As far as paint color goes, are you happy with the merlot color? If so, then I wouldn't change but if you are ready for a change then I would go with a pretty tan or taupe.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)
