~ Happy Spring ~

Happy Spring everyone! wow, I can really say that now!..... it's official!.... Yippee :)

I'm stopping in for a quick post and to get some opinions :) What a busy time of year getting the Cottage all ready for the warm weather to come! Last week we hit 72 degrees! Oh how lovely! :)

I freshened up the Cottage with some new pillows... I adore the french grain sack and ticking looks! So I added a few to my new chair and the Sofa! Do you all love ticking and that soft grain sack fabric too?

I love a little French.... The blue and white one is so soft and vintage! And I adore the one from Heidi's shop too! It means French Bakery , gotta love that :)

I didn't get this yet, but ordered one for the bedroom.... Do you like a little floral with your ticking?
Veranda magazine did such a pretty job with these vintage looking pillows, don't you think?

Ok now onto my tiny little question :).... My chandelier needs a little spruce up, which shade would you pick?

1. Is a pretty sage green check 2. Is a little burlap and gingham and 3. ? Well, 3 means I make them myself out of blue and white ticking?? Hmmm, any tips on getting it to line up on the plain shades I'd buy , or should I angle it ? OR scratch the idea of 3 altogether lol ?? Or ....if anyone has seen any blue and white ticking shades for sale anywhere I'd be eternally grateful if you could let me know, where?? :)

Well friends, Thanks for helping me out in advance!! I hope you are having a wonderful Spring!!

Love ya lots!!!

Hugs,

~ Cynthia ~ XO

  3. I just love your ticking with the French Grain sack pillow. Have you given us a link to Heidi before?? Love the Veranda pillows too. I want my Wicker patio swing to look just like that. Yes, a little floral with your ticking couldn't say spring more.
I don't know if I can explain how in words to do the shade, but here goes.
Lay the shade down on large pattern paper. Mark where you start on the shade, and roll it slowly drawing a pattern as you go. It will look curved an the stripes should line up right. Clear as mud, right.
If that fails, go to Joanns and buy the size shade you want in and it comes with a pattern.
I love your blog and today you inspired me to finally do my swing for Spring...Yeah!!

  28. I can't decide between 2 or 3. Two would probably be easier to make but you can't go wrong, they will be lovely. I just love Spring don't you? Have a wonderful day :)

  31. GM Cyn, luv your new pillows! So purty and my vote would b shade #1... I think the sage would be so purty with the blues...

  32. Hands down, the blue and white ticking for the shades. As far as how to place the fabric, perhaps you might consider more than one seam to keep the stripes as straight as possible.

  34. Hi Cynthia! I see you are adding a little France in NY!lol The pillows are cute and you can't go wrong with ticking BUT I think the burlap (not usually a fan of) w/check give it that French/Beachy feel in one and are refreshing with the pattern in the background of the lace/plaid/florals! But hey your the designer sooo whatever you pic I know it will be gorgeous!! Have fun - Sincerely, Jeannette

  35. all of them would look nice! I like #2! I am doing sconces and have pearl shades you would love! i am going to post them! love the pillows too! xo

  36. I vote #2 - # 3 would be overkill with the blue and white, I think. I'm not in favor of overdoing the matchy thing in decorating. Beautiful chandelier!

  38. It is always so much fun to see the decors that you come up with. The pillows look great with your furniture. I like Veranda magazine too. As for the shades, I think I would chose the burlap, but I think any of them would look great when you finish the project. I know someone looking for blue ticking shades so please let me know if you ever find them.

Visiting your blog is such an inspiring thing for me to do. Your touches and artistic abilities leads me to create. The daisy photo is beautiful!

  41. Happy Spring Cynthia!!!
The writing of 'Patisserie' on the pillow reminded me of the movie Chocolate'. Thanks for the smile!

Personnaly, I don't like writing like that on pillows, decorations, etc.. However, the two different little pillows with tiny floral prints are absolutely wonderful!!!!

At first I was TOTALLY going to vote for shade idea #3 and reccommend that you google search how to make them. I've seen how to's on numerous blogs before ... I 'think' one of them was at Lipstick and Laundry Ca. ...

But then I got looking at your picture more and decided to vote on # 1, and suggest that you add some rose colored trim around the top and bottom edges of it.

  42. OK Here is my vote. Buy the burlap shades take off the binding and re do it with the bloe & white ticking. Excited to see what you decide.
