Farmhouse style kitchen...

Hi sweetie pies! {That's my "farmhouse talk" for hello!} Well my Farmhouse style kitchen is almost complete. I'm working on a screened-in porch that will connect to one side, but since that will be awhile, I thought I'd post the area that's pretty much complete. I spent my weekend working on it, which was easy because we were snowed in with 2 plus feet of snow from the Blizzard of 2013. It looks like a winter wonderland out there, but playing house in the new mini kitchen kept my thoughts on the upcoming Spring and Summer months! Now that we had a good snow storm, I can get that out of my system and start dreaming of the next seasons :). It all began with the inspiration collage above (gathered from pinterest). I've always had a lot of "country girl" in my soul , so it was pretty natural to work on a style that is close to my own heart. This Romantic Prairie/Farmhouse style kitchen makes me think of those blossoming and fruitful seasons I love too.  I hope you enjoy the little tour! Actually, lol, it's not so little, there's a ton of pictures, so grab some iced tea, a cup of coffee, or a nice glass of wine and relax while I walk you through a little bit of Country kitchen love!....

It all begins with country vintage style elements! Kitchen utensils, a little bit of vintage jadeite, and finishes that are well worn add to the patina of farmhouse style...

Open shelves filled with simple accents like cutting-boards, vintage dishtowels, beautiful white plates, and other kitchen-ware make the space feel well lived in and ready for any inspiring cook!

A jadeite colander and lots of freshly baked pies add to the cozy country feel!

Fresh vegetables and fruit,  to wash and prepare...

A place for everything that we love...

Even a small reading corner can fit right in! It's ready for you when you need to sit and read a cookbook and ponder over the days recipe that you want to prepare. And if it's a soft burlap covered chair with a gorgeous vintage lace trim pillow and roses? Then it's even better :)

Isn't it so pretty?! Yes, I did have this one in the Parisian kitchen, but I actually think it looks even more beautiful here!

In the farmhouse and romantic prairie style kitchens, very often the kitchen island can serve 2 purposes: first a work and preparation space , and then the perfect place for delicious country meals too!

And what kitchen is complete without a vase of roses? Certainly not mine :)

I love using hutches, as most of you know, but I like to use them in place of kitchen cabinets too, and this kitchen was no exception. This was really the best of both because I created this hutch from 2 different pieces and then the top piece became the cabinet for wonderful country things like fresh jams, home-canned vegetables, and lots of cookware too!
I added a picnic pie basket to the top, because you all know , every girl with a little country in her loves a picnic with pie! :)

Fresh biscuits and fresh eggs in the morning is a given in country life!

and of course.....a vintage styled stove fits in nicely :)
Paintings of farm life have always pulled at my heart strings, and a farmhouse style kitchen wouldn't be complete without that for me...

A view of the vintage styled hutch and island/table...
I just love the peaceful and simple charming allure of this style..It says HOME to me.  It feels welcoming , honest , and is the perfect backdrop for cooking and entertaining for me...
A sweet little basket adds to the charm...

A full view of the sides that are finished...

And of course, because we can use magic in miniature kitchens....it's a beautiful day out too! :)

Farmhouse kitchen love

Simple and sweet...
Well my friends, that's about it for today...I hope you enjoyed your steps into  my new little kitchen! You made it all the way through a lot of pictures, so I think you deserve some PIE! Don't you? :) Oh I wish I actually could!! You are all so sweet and wonderful!
I wish you a beautiful week ahead and days filled with blessings and gratitude! I know for sure , that I'm grateful for all of you! Hugs and love, Cynthia xo

  1. I just checked your site and when I saw a new post I gasped with delight! I am not even going to look at the new pictures until I can feed my 3 hungry guys(1hubby & 2 grown sons) I want to sit down with a nice drink & take my time & savor every teeny tiny detail. I hope there are some cornbread sticks somewhere in the pictures. It's not a farmhouse kitchen without cornbread sticks, lol! Thank you for taking lots of pictures. I can't wait to drool over every single one. More comments to follow sweetie pie, mini hugs to you.

  5. Oh Cynthia, it is all simply exquisite! After I fed everybody & made lunches for tomorrow I brought myself a snack & a drink down to the computer. I just finished looking at all of your farmhouse kitchen pictures & they are just lovely. I love the walls & the floors, the furniture & all of the accessories. You have done an amazing job of creating a very homey farmhouse kitchen. I felt like I was a little girl again & my aunt Louise & I had just brought in the fresh eggs from the chicken coop. Such treasured memories. Thank you for giving visual delight to my cherished memories. That was in Paducah, Kentucky by the way & I really did love a snack of cornbread sticks with karo syrup. Yummy! Have you ever seen the wrought iron pan that you bake cornbread sticks in? It has corn kernel indentations so when you take the sticks out of the pan they look like an ear of corn. So cute. Thanks again for all of the lovely pictures. I can't wait to see the screened in porch. I just adore porches.

  11. Una maravilla de cocina, Cynthia. Un gusto exquisito, tanto en decoración como en los ricos alimentos que preparas.
Aunque soy una chica de ciudad, creo que todos deberíamos relajarnos de vez en cuando en un lugar como este.

  12. It's perfection! It looks like something straight out of the pages of Country Living Magazine! The lace skirt around the sink is such a sweet touch. And the chair does look perfect in here....but what's going to go in the corner of the Parisian kitchen now? You need to get another identical chair from Maritza!

  15. Cynthia, of all the kitchens you have done so far, I must say this is my favourite. When I look at all the accessories that you have patiently assembled and congregated in just the right places, it makes me realize how hard you have worked to make this room the treasure that it is. This could not have been an easy task but you have managed it superbly! Thank you so very much for all the eye candy you provide and all the inspiration that you bring!
