~ A loss felt deeply ~

Hi sweet friends, I am sad to report here that my Dear , sweet, loving and beautiful Father passed away on July 27th 2010. I was so happy to have them living back up here in NY and about a week after my parents arrival, my Dad took a very fast downward turn and quietly passed away in his sleep on July 27th. My heart is broken and I will miss him every day of my life... During one of the sadness experiences of my life, I have to say that many blessings were given to me also. He had told me before he came that he wasn't feeling well and that he would do everything he could to get here. We were prepared to have help at home with him, but not prepared to lose him so quickly. But days before he passed, we spent so many precious moments together, we told each other how much we loved each other a hundred times. I held his hand and stroked his head the day before and told him he was the best father a girl could ever ask for. He smiled at me and told me the same. I cannot thank God enough for this precious time I had with him. Or for the hour of " I love yous", or for the fact that every Grandchild got to hug him, or for such a beautiful intimate family service we had over the weekend of spreading his ashes over the LI Beach he grew up at as a boy. Or for being now surrounded my loved ones and having my Mother still be so healthy and now living so close to me. Or for the "Celebration of life" memorial we had in his honor bringing my best friend back to the love of her life and again, living next door to me....My Father was the most incredible Man to so many people and everyone loved him and each person he touched will be forever blessed by his friendship and love. I wish you all could have known him.

I am spending this time with my Mother who while she misses the love of life, is another exceptional , beautiful Lady and as strong as they come. After 58 years of marriage to him, she gathered the strength and love to call him and the time they shared a "Blessing" ... something she will be eternally grateful for. And it's the love my Father gave us, that keep us going and his legacy that keeps us strong too. I will love him and miss him every day of my life. But I will take that love as he wished and see it in every thing I do ... every day....

" What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us forever..." ( Helen Keller )

  19. Cynthia, I am so very sorry for the loss of your father. I just cannot believe that he passed away. The first thing that flashed in my mind was the post you wrote about recently spending time with them and your excitement about your parents moving close to you. Your love for your father - and family - is heart warming and so gentle in only the way a daughter can speak of her father. It is quite clear that he was the very best father. Just know he will always be with you and around you.

God Bless you and your family during this difficult time of your life.

Your strength will come from all of your sweet, sweet memories.

  52. Losing ones parents is so so hard at whatever age. I lost my darling Mum Sunday 27th June she was 86 and passed from senile dementia. I miss her so teribly even though she hadn't known whom I was for the last few years. My heart aches and literally hurts, so I send my thoughts to you across the pond and like you I share my memories of my Mum. So many odd little things have happened since she passed...they're like little reminders teeling me "don't worry I'm still around you"...and I know dep down she is, I am choking up yet again typing this so will go...take care. 106. Cynthia- I just found your blog by chance. I have to tell you that losing a loving father is he worst. I lost my own when I was 21 and he my best champion. How fortunate you were to have him spend his last days with you. I think he probably came home just to be with you-those that are slipping from this life often are moved to "come home". And, now ultimately, he has "come home" and, I believe, that you will find him there someday. God bless you, my dear. Know that there will be some really bad days and some really good days and that it will "hit you" hard when you least expect it

  114. You were so blessed to have such a man as your father. Helen Keller said it all and said it so well.

  115. So sorry to hear about your father. I feel he wanted your mom to be nearby so that she would be alright. Nothing like losing a parent. I miss my parents so much. Try to grab as much time as you can with your mother.

  120. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Reading your story brought tears to my eyes - your Dad and my Dad must have been men cut from the same cloth. It's been 5 yrs now since my Dad "went home" and my heart still aches. Please know that I'll be covering your family in prayer. I hope you can feel the "cyber" hugs that are being sent your way.

  121. I am so very sorry for your loss, Cynthia. How blessed you and I are to have those special memories, that can never be taken from us, of our wonderful fathers. I count it a blessing each day that my dad is still living...for however much longer the Lord deems.

May God's "peace that passes all understanding" be yours, your mom's, and the rest of your family's.

    Blessings,

  124. Cynthia,

I'm finally using this rainy day in South Carolina to catch up on some of my favorite blogs. I was so sorry to read about your father's passing. Their is nothing as special as a father's love for his daughter. I know you will miss him forever but you can now celebrate his life with your mother.

    Hugs, Gretchen
